Lakme Fashion Week: Ranveer Singh Raps His Way Through Setting The Ramp On Fire

Actor Ranveer Singh, who is playing the role of a rapper within the upcoming film Gully Boy, has gone all out for the promotions of the movie. After delivering back to back power-packed performances at numerous events, the actor went on to perform at the grand finale of the Lakme Fashion Week that terminated on Sunday. The Padmavati actor has rapped quite a few songs like Asli Hip Hop, Meri Gully Mein, Doori and Ek Hee Raasta within the film and performed a few of them live for the audience. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, Gully Boy is galvanized from the lives of Mumbai-based rappers such as Divine and Naezy. The film is about to hit the theatres on Valentine’s Day. Speaking at the trailer launch of the film, Ranveer had aforesaid, “When someone told me regarding the script of Gully Boy, I told them that it's my film. If the other actor would have been a part of this film rather than me then I'd have gotten burnt with jealousy. I was born to do Gully Boy and I knew only I can pull off this character.”

He had added, “It’s a coming together of too many things that are very dear to me. It has rap, hip-hop music which I loved since I was a kid and it is set in my motherland Mumbai.”

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, who are sharing the screen space for the first time in Zoya Akhtar’s musical drama Gully Boy, shared new posters from the film a few days back. Before releasing the film in India, Gully Boy will premiere in Berlin International Film Festival, which is scheduled to be command between February 7 and February 17. The Zoya Akhtar-directed film has been selected along with German film Brecht and a documentary titled Watergate to be screened as part of Berlinale Special. Besides Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, the film also stars Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Raaz, Amruta Subhash, and Vijay Verma. Gully Boy is produced by Excel Entertainment, which is co-owned by Farhan Akhtar.
