Liver disease conference organized by Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals in Shillong

SHIILONG: In order to make residents of Shillong and the nearby areas aware of the chronic liver diseases, its symptoms and the treatment procedure, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals organized a press conference here on Friday.

The conference was addressed by Dr Neerva Goyal, senior consultant, liver transplant department, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals.

As per a World Health Organization (WHO) report, about 10 lakh people are diagnosed with liver cirrhosis every year in India.

Talking about the cause for liver diseases, Dr Goyal said, “Sedentary lifestyle intake of excess alcohol, diets with high fats and cholesterol, lack of exercise are some of the major reasons for increasing liver diseases in India.”
