Make multi-cultural fabric stronger: DD Lapang to youth

SHILLONG: With the aim of celebrating the unity in diversity of our nation and to promote the spirit of national integration, the Reciprocal Inter State Youth Exchange Programme under the nationwide youth programme, ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’ was today inaugurated by the Chief Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, DD Lapang in a function held at Youth Hostel, Shillong.

The two-week programme is being organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Shillong under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

In the first phase of the programme, a delegation of 50 youth from Uttar Pradesh and 50 from Meghalaya will tour the state to learn about the heritage, customs, and tradition of the State and in the 2nd phase, 25 members from Meghalaya and 25 from Arunachal Pradesh will visit Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh from 9th December to 23rd December, 2018.

Speaking on the occasion, Lapang termed the programme as a great initiative to bring people from different states and union territories to the grassroots level to learn and share experiences. “Such initiative will go a long way in strengthening the multi-cultural fabric of India and inculcate a sense of national pride in the youth,” he added.
