Massive Fire Broke Out at Pandit Deendayal Antyodaya Bhawan in Delhi

Guwahati: A massive fire broke out on the fifth floor of Pandit Deendayal Antyodaya Bhawan at the CGO Complex in Delhi where a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) sub-inspector died of injuries.

Chief Fire Officer of Delhi Atul Garg said that the fire started at around 8.30am in the morning on Wednesday and the fire department rushed 24 fire engines to the spot to fight the blaze.

The CISF inspector fell unconscious after inhaling the smoke and was taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Many government offices including a branch of the Indian Air Force, Water and Sanitation Ministry and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are housed in the Antyodaya Bhawan.

Officials of fire department said that cooling operation is underway and brought under control in time and said that the probable cause of the fire is due to short circuit.

Several official documents could have been gutted in fire according to officials as many offices have been operated from the Paryavaran Bhawan which was previously known as.
