Meritorious students felicitated in Radha Kanta Phukan High School, Charing

GAURISAGAR: Radha Kanta Phukan (RKP) High School, Charing organized a felicitation meeting on Wednesday with a view to felicitate and confer awards to meritorious students who passed the HSLC examination, 2019 successfully.

The meeting was chaired by Chiranjib Gogoi, president of the School Managing Committee. Dr. Mukul Hazarika, alumnus of the school and former teacher of Balya Bhavan, Jorhat, graced the meeting as a distinguished guest while Abdul Jelil, Inspector of Schools, Sivasagar, took part as a guest of honour. Other dignitaries were Dr Prakash Katoky, alumnus of the school and former Principal of Sibsagar College, Devajit Phukan and Bishnu Kakoty, former headmasters of the school, Jibo Konwer, former Principal of Deoraja Janata HS School, Rajib Dutta, secretary of Gaurisagar Press Club, and the family members of trust awardees.

The Upendra Nath Katoky Education Trust award was conferred to Jagadish Dutta, who passed the HSLC examination with 95 per cent from the school. The award carries a trophy, a citation, a replica and cash prize. Later, the Purna Kanta Gogoi memorial award was presented to Jagadish Dutta, Chitra Ranjan Hondique and Reetom Phukan. On the other land, the Punnyada Borah memorial award was conferred to meritorious BPL student Madhu Buragohanin. The Sura Kanta Duarah Trust award was conferred to Priton Jyoti Phukan who secured the highest mark in Assamese.

On the other hand, the Krishna Kanta Hazarika Trust award was conferred to Jagadish Dutta who secured highest mark in English. The Chandan Konwer Trust award was given to Madhu Buragohain, a BPL meritorious student. The Nasima Begum Award was given to Prasen Das, a meritorious student belonging to the BPL community. Earlier, Utjal Kakoty, headmaster of the school, expressed his sincere gratitude to Dr Padmaluchan Hazarika, an alumnus of the school and professor of Gauhati University, who provided Rs 43,000 for the Krishna Kanta Hazarika Memorial Trust and procurement of reference books for students.
