Money Seized In Mawlai, Shillong

SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills police late on Friday evening were able to seize a sizable amount of money from one vechicle at Mawlai along the National Highway road. When The Sentinel tried to find information from the police on the exact amount recovered from the vechicle the people were tighted liped on the matter.

When contacted, the SP East Khasi Hills, Claudia Lyngwa admitted that a huge amount of money was seizd by the police from one vechicle at Mawlai. However the SP didnt inform on the exact amount of money recovered and sezied by the police and what was the intended use of the money and where it was meant to be delivered.

“The police are investigating this matter hence I won’t be able to dilvuge any more information in regard to this case because it might affect the investigation,” he said.

She informed that after police recieved information later they traced the vechicle and intercepted it at Mawlai and after searching the vechicle the money was recovered.

When asked the SP informed that both the money seized and the vechicle are in police custody.
