Nyishi Ethnic Students of Arunachal oppose granting of PRC

Itanagar: The Nyishi Ethnic Students of Arunachal (NESA) has expressed strong opposition to any move to grant PRCs to non-APSTs in the state.

The NESA alleged that the state government had “undermined the sentiments of the indigenous people and the Nyishi community” by proposing to grant PRCs to non-APST communities of Namsai and Lohit districts.

“The work of elected leaders is to focus on development and safeguard the rights of the indigenous people. Instead of doing so, the BJP leaders are polluting the peaceful scenario by assuring to issue PRCs to non-APST people living in Arunachal,” it said.

The association accused Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein of “selling the rights of the indigenous people of the state,” and called on both to issue an apology for hurting the sentiments of Arunachalees, a press release informed here on Saturday.
