‘Oju Welfare Association a Philanthropic Institution’: Arunachal Governor Dr BD Mishra

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) Dr BD Mishra on Friday visited the Oju Welfare Association (OWA) Centre at Naharlagun and visited the Children Home for the children rescued from child labour and child abuse.

The Governor also visited the Shishu Greh, Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA), Swadhar Greh (Short Stay Home) for women in difficult circumstances, Swadhar Greh (Shelter for survivors of Domestic Violence, Child Marriage and Forced marriage), and other centres within the complex and interacted with the inmates, an official communique informed.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that Oju Welfare Association Centre is a great philanthropic institution which is admirably living up to its motto, ‘Service to humanity’. He lauded the effort of OWA and said that in spite limited resources, OWA is discharging its responsibilities commendably for the better future of the inmates, which include, special children. Appreciating the positive living pattern of the inmates, the governor advised them to move ahead in life with the same spirit, imbibe skill and capability and to become self supporting as also to contribute to the societal progress.

He urged the women inmates, who endured domestic violence, abandonment and other forms of brutality to try to shed their past and live in hope and harmony with themselves. Dr Mishra appealed to the officials and the staff of OWA to work with revered dedication for the best welfare of the inmates. He suggested yoga programme and open sessions for emotional relaxation and spiritual activities for the inmates, the communique added.
