Oju Welfare Association To Shelter Abandoned Woman Found In Lathao, Arunachal

Our Correspondent

Itanagar: Naharlagun-based Oju Welfare Association (OWA) chairperson Ratan Anya, who had learnt about the rescue of an elderly woman, aged about 75 by the Army from dense jungle in Lathao area of Namsai district on June 14, said that woman is being sent to the Swadhar Griha of the association.

Anya informed that circle officer Oyam Saring had contacted her with a request to rehabilitate that woman. Though Swadhar Griha rules permit to rehabilitate helpless people up to age of 60, but she has never refused to help such hapless person. In fact, OWA had sheltered a cancer patient in the past, who was given due treatment but she had died. The woman is expected to reach OWA soon by a vehicle allotted by Namsai DC Tapasya Raghav.

Lack of an old age home in the state is the main reason for such suffering by neglected elderly people while Swadhar Griha is only such centre in the State.
