A Correspondent

SHILLONG: BJP national general secretary Rahul Sinha on Monday said there is a lot of misinformation in the region on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 even as he alleged the hand of “outside forces”.

Sinha, however did not reveal who these outside forces were.

He however said that the BJP has not given it up and would reach out to the people by creating awareness about the bill during the Lok Sabha elections.

“People were getting misinformation regarding the bill from certain sections,” the BJP national general secretary said.

Sinha while trying to calm the nerves of those who are opposed the bill said that there will be no loss for anyone if the bill is passed but instead spread the felling of brotherhood among all sections of society.

On the divergent stance taken by the Meghalaya unit of the BJP on the bill to that at the national level, president Shibun Lyngdoh stated that AL Hek was the leader of the party in the Assembly and he being part of the Cabinet, which had decided to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, he had to agree to the stand of his leader.
