People’s Democratic Front Hopes For Better Performances In Jaintia Hills

SHILLONG: Both the East and West Jaintia Hills district committees of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) have stated that the poor performance of the party in the JHADC polls was because the PDF was a relatively new party in Jaintia Hills.

“Even though we were unable to win a single seat in the just concluded JHADC election we still would like to thank the voters who supported our candidates. The sole reason for our poor performance is we are still a new party in the Jaintia Hills,” said Shibor Lamare, the president of the party’s Jaintia Hills district committee, said.

He, however, pointed out that as leaders of the party in the district they will continue to work tirelessly to make sure that the PDF grows stronger and plants its roots in the Jaintia Hills.

“We are also hopeful that in the near future the people of Jaintia Hills will look at the PDF as a party that will work for the welfare of the people of the entire district and the State as a whole,” he added.

The PDF in the MDC election for the JHADC had fielded nine candidates. However, not a single candidate of the party managed to register a victory in the Council polls.

The PDF, however, managed to win a single seat in the MDC election for the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
