Prime Minister befooling people of Assam : Congress

GUWAHATI: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Ripun Bora on Friday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of trying to emotionally blackmail the people of the State ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

“Modi during his speech at a rally in Silchar said that his government would pass the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 as well implement the Assam Accord. The statement is completely contradictory aimed befooling the people of Assam,” Bora while addressing a press conference here on Friday said.

Bora asked Modi as to why the latter did not mention a single word on promises that he gave to the people of Assam during campaigning for 2014 Lok Sabha polls. “Forget about other promises. Modi did not say anything on the present moribund state of Cachar Paper Mill. The paper mill is the heart and soul for the people of Barak Valley. But the paper mill did not find its place in the priority list of Modi,” he said.

Bora who is also a Rajya Sabha member appealed to the people of Assam not to be hoodwinked by Modi’s false promises.
