Public hearing on shift of Community and Rural Block (C&RD) block held

SHILLONG: In a bid to resolve the tussle between people of Wapung and Lumshnong on the proposed shifting of the Community and Rural Block (C&RD) headquarters, the government on Monday called a public meeting to hear the voices of the people.

The Public meeting was held on Monday and the District Administration of East Jaintia Hills District conducted a Public Hearing at Wapung Secondary School. The hearing was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, F. M. Dopth and was attended by the Magistrates of the district, prominent citizens and village headmen under the Wapung C&RD Block.

The Deputy Commissioner, while welcoming all those persons, urged the people in the meeting to raise only the points that relate with the shifting or evidence that affect the area after the shifting of the C&RD Block.

At the end of the public hearing, the Deputy Commissioner requested the petitioners, stakeholders and the village headmen to submit their deposition in writing so that the District Administration can submit the required information to the government within a stipulated time.
