Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council, Mising Autonomous Council and Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council elections on January 21

GUWAHATI: The Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC), Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council (SKAC) and the Mising Autonomous Council (MAC) are going to poll on January 21. It was announced earlier that the North Cachar Hill Autonomous Council (NCHAC) poll is slated to be held on January 19.

Announcing the poll schedules of the three autonomous councils on Friday, State Election Commissioner (SEC) HN Bora told the media: “The poll codes of conduct are in force from today in the respective autonomous council areas. The last date of filing of nomination papers is January 11 and the scrutiny of nomination papers is on January 12. The last date of withdrawal of candidature is January 14. While the poll in each of the three autonomous councils will start from 7 am and complete at 3 pm on January 21, counting will start from 8 am on January 28.”

On the expenditure front, Bora said: “While each of the candidates of the RHAC and the MAC can spend Rs 1.60 lakh, a candidate of the SKAC can spend Rs 1.10 lakh. While the RHAC has 556 poll stations and around four lakh voters in 36 constituencies, MAC has 967 poll stations and around four lakh voters in 36 constituencies and the SKAC has 323 poll stations and around 2.5 lakh voters in 26 constituencies.

While the territory RHAC covers areas in Goalpara and Kamrup; the territory of the SKAC covers areas falling in Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Titabor, Golaghat, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji and Jonai; the jurisdiction of MAC covers areas of Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Dhakuakhana, Gohpur, Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia.
