Release funds for salary payment: Meghalaya SSA School Association to Government

SHILLONG, July 20: The Meghalaya SSA School Association recently called on the Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui and discussed on two important issues regarding allocation of funds from the State Budget for payment of SSA teachers pending dues and problems of Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) Programme for first batch 2013-15 and second batch 2015-17.

Aristotle C Rymbai, president of Meghalaya SSA School Association Central Body in his statement issued here today informed that after the Association submitted a representation to the State Government on June 15 on the two important points regarding allocation of funds from State Budget for payment of SSA teachers pending dues, the delegation of the Association on July 6 met the Education Minister for discussion on the issues.

He (Lahkmen Rymbui) informed, “the delay of the State Government to release the salary of current academic year to the SSA teachers is due to non released of Adhoc installament to the Government of Meghalaya by the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development while adding that he is concerned about the problems faced by the SSA teachers and that the State Government is trying its best to find out a permanent solution to the problems. Rymbui also added that the Education department has sent a proposal to the State Finance department for allocation of funds from the State Budget for payment of SSA teachers salary for two months and that the matter is under process.

“The Education Minister had also informed that he wrote to the Chief Minister for allocation of funds for payment of SSA teachers arrear salary of the financial year 2016-17 at the earliest “ AC Rymbai said.

Rymbui also reportedly informed the delegation of that Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma will leave for New Delhi to meet the competent authority of MHRD on 18,19 and 20 this month for release of funds for implementation of SSA programme in Meghalaya and other issues related to SSA teachers.

AC Rymbai also said that during his conversation with the Chief Minister who is in New Delhi, the latter informed that the State Government was trying to get the funds released by the HRD Ministry in the next few weeks.
