Rowta Police recover stolen truck within 12 hours of theft

MANGALDAI: The Rowta Police in Udalguri district recovered a stolen truck and arrested one of the prime accused within 12 hours of theft. According to information, at about 2.30 am on March 16, a 12-wheeler loaded truck bearing registration no.AS 22 C 5806 on the way to Siliguri in West Bengal from Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh carrying ‘Fafor’, was intercepted by six unknown miscreants on NH 15 at Lailangpara under Rowta Police Station. The miscreants took away the vehicle, leaving the driver Firoz Khan and two handymen in a desolate area.

On the basis of the FIR lodged by Firoz Khan, the Rowta Police registered a case vide number 43/2019 under section 395 IPC and the newly-joined Officer in-charge, Sub Inspector Hemanta Kumar Barua took up the case for investigation. Barua picked up one Maksed Ali alias Mandal from Silbori under Dalgaon Police Station and seized a red colour Swift car bearing registration number AS 13 J 7931. During the course of investigation, the arrested Maksed confessed his involvement in the crime using his Swift car. He also led the police to Rangiya to recover the stolen truck. Though the other miscreants involved are absconding, Sub-Inspector Hemanta Kumar Barua is confident that they will be arrested soon.
