Second Foundation Day of Sampriti observed in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, June 1: Socio-cultural exchange and goodwill organization, Sampriti, observed its second foundation day as Sampriti Divas at District Library Auditorium recently.

The day’s programme started with the hoisting of the organization’s flag by its president, Indra Gogoi. The chief advisor of Sampriti and professor of Assamese Department, Dibrugarh University lit the traditiol lamp. A number of competitions on Bia am, dance and songs, besides semir and felicitation programme, were held on the occasion. The open session chaired by Sampriti president Indra Gogoi started with a group song presented by renowned lyricist and music composer, Hiren Gohain.

Chief adviser Dr Bhim Kanta Konwar formally released the second edition of the souvenir Sampriti Barta and a book Jyotishman written by Indra Gogoi and published by Sampriti Prakashan. The District Cultural Officer, Pabitra Kumar Pegu, conducted the Bia am competition. Borpathar Buwari Bia am Dal headed by Sewali Gogoi won the first prize in Bia am competition while Ramdhenu Mohila Bia am Dal under the guidance of Anjumoni Kalita and Kowori Bia m Dal under stewardship of Runumi Chetia bagged the second and third prize respectively.

Sangeet Sadha Mohila Dal of Dignoi got consolation prize. Noted Bia am specialist and exponent of folk culture, Mukti th Borgohain and Renu Sharma spoke at length on various aspects of Bia am.

Sampriti also felicitated Chni Ram Borgohain and Khageswar Gogoi, both die-hard cultural activist of the State, with a citation and a packet of books. The meeting was attended, amongst others, by noted writer Ganesh Kurmi, president Jorhat unit of Sampriti, Jogeswar Baruah and secretary Mousumi Rekha Khound, Professor of Chandra Kamal Bezbaruah College, Dr Anup Kumar Baruah, Nilima Baruah, Dr Lakshmi Prasad Gogoi, Upen Konwar and Dr Bipin Kakoty.
