Security in place for by-polls

Shillong, May 24: With militant activities in Garo hills being virtually wiped out, the State Director General of Police (DGP) SB Singh told The Sentinel that the security arrangements preparation for the Ampati by-polls is in place.

As per his version, four companies of central armed police forces have already been deployed to aid the state forces in ensuring fair and peaceful elections. The DGP sees no reasons to worry on the law and order front but opined that the usual poll related misdemeanor could happen but such activities would be nailed down. Inputs from Ampati reveal that no matter how high the voltage of the electoral battle be, it will be free from the guns of the militants.
