Steps Taken By Public To Stop Fake News

The spreading of fake news has increased in the recent past. One of the main causes behind the rise of fake news is the social media platforms we use. Today, we have a common platform where we can voice our opinion and express our thoughts. But this is being misused by the general public for their own selfish gains.

People are using Facebook, Twitter and other such social media platform to propagate fake news and misinformation to spread hatred in the society. There are has been several instances of riots which are caused due to fake news. This is one of the main reasons why fake news is considered to be so dangerous. It is our responsibility to stop the spreading of such news and protect our society from trouble.

What is the progress made so far?

Stopping the problem of fake news is not an easy task. But that doesn’t mean you should sit quietly and let it continue for the worse. Steps need to be taken in order to reduce the spreading of such news on social media platforms. This can only be done with the cooperation of the social networks. In this case, Facebook has already taken valid steps to fight the problem. Now it becomes our responsibility to support Facebook in their initiative. After all, this is for our own good.

No matter how difficult it is to completely stop the spreading of fake news, we should not give up. Facebook has introduced some tech-related systems in order to address the problem. This includes the development and use of technical standards, helping users identify the origin of the news, starving disinformation providers of click-driven advertising revenue and tech-driven solutions used to verify images and other digital content.

Either people circulate false news through ignorance or they do it deliberately in order to satisfy their own personal interests. Regardless of the reason, it needs to be stopped immediately. In cooperation with the general public, Facebook has also introduced some important tips to fight and stop fake news. People need to follow these tips and stop sharing fake news.

Social media alone cannot do anything if we do not cooperate with them. They are doing their part and we should do ours.
