Joysagar: The historic stone bridge over Namdang River in NH-37 of Gaurisagar will be adopted by the Assam Archeological Department (AAD). The announcement was made by the Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner recently.

The DC also revealed that the State Archeological Department would adopt the Second World War monument in Sivasagar town, famous as the Dikhow iron lift bridge of the British era.

The Namdang stone bridge, popularly called as Namdang Sila Saku, is an Ahom era monument but no steps have been allegedly taken by the authorities concerned to preserve it. Same is the situation with the Dikhow Iron Bridge constructed in 1935.
