Tejashwi Yadav Announces the Bihar Seats for the Lok Sabha Polls

Guwahati: The opposition mahagathbandhan (alliance) in Bihar and leader of Rashtriya Janata Dal, Tejashwi Yadav today announced its seat share pact amid reports of a rift over seats and also announced candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav said that the pact is unbreakable on rubbishing reports of a breakdown in talks with the Congress.

Yadav announced that the RJD will contest in 19 seats, Congress 9 and Rashtriya Lok Samata Party of Upendra Kushwaha who quit the BJP led alliance in December last will contest in five seats.

The seat of Shatrughan Sinha who has announced his joining in the Congress by quitting BJP will now be shared by Congress in Patna Sahib. The BJP had snubbed Sinha and named Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad for the seat and the actor turned politician is now expected to fight as a Congress candidate who will join the party soon as announced yesterday after meeting the Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

Lalu Prasad Yadav's son Tejashwi Yadav also said that his sister Misa Bharti would contest from Pataliputra. Yadav's brother's father-in-law Chandrika Rai will contest from Saran. However, Tej Pratap has filed for divorce with Rai's daughter in less than a year of marriage and he also quitted a party post last evening.

The former leader of Janata Dal (United) led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Sharad Yadav will contest from Madhepura. Yadav was expelled from the JD (U) for objecting to Nitish Kumar's decision to dump the RJD and revive ties with the BJP.

Bihar has 40 Lok Sabha seats and the state will vote in five phases of the national elections which is scheduled to be held from April 11 to May 19 and the result of which will be declared on May 23.
