Ten people killed in an explosion at Uttar Pradesh

Guwahati: At least ten people were killed and six people were injured in an explosion at a shop in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday afternoon. The explosion also led to a collapse of three adjacent houses according to a report.

The explosion took place at the shop in Rohta Bazaar and Kaliyar Mansoor who used to run the shop is among the 10 people deceased in the explosion. It is suspected that some people are still trapped under the debris and a rescue operation has been launched.

Mansoor's son runs a carpet factory behind the shop and its workers could be among those trapped under the debris.

As informed by the District Magistrate, Rajendra Prasad said that a search operation is on.

However, it has been claimed by locals that Mansoor was also running a business of making illegal firecrackers. The other three deceased identified are Irfan Mansoori, Abid Mansoori and Chandu while the other six are still to be identified.

The injured people are admitted to the hospital.

Teams of forensic experts, NDRF and senior district officials have rushed to the spot while earthmoving equipments have been pressed into service to carry out relief and rescue works.
