Thowra constituency of Demow all set for Panchayat polls

DEMOW: The first phase of panchayat poll will be held on Wednesday. Thowra constituency is all set for the polls. There are four zila parishads in Thowra- Bokota, Panidehing, Thowra and Palengi - and 20 gaon panchayats. The Panidehing Zila Parishad includes Pachim Panidehing, Panidehing, Rajabari, Gohainpukhuri and Nitaipukhuri gaon panchayats. In Panidehing Zila Parishad there are 27,053 voters. The Palengi Zila Parishad includes Sukanpukhuri, Saragua, Maharani, Palengi Gaon Panchayat and Nahat Gaon Panchayat. In Palengi Zila Parishad there are 24,123 voters.

The Thowra Zila Parishad includes Demow, Kharahat, Athabari, Rupjyoti and Thowra Doul gaon panchayats. In Thowra Zila Parishad there are 25,754 voters. The Bokota Zila Parishad includes Nemuguri, Parijat, Nagalamara, Barbam and Bakharbegena gaon panchayats. In Bokota Zila Parishad there are 23,807 voters.

Among the 20 gaon panchayats, the Athabari Gaon Panchayat has the highest number of voters. In Athabari Gaon Panchayat, which is under Thowra Zila Parishad of Thowra constituency, there are 6,897 voters. The Maharani Gaon Panchayat under Palengi Zila Parishad has the lowest number of voters among the 20 gaon panchayats. In Maharani Gaon Panchayat there are 3,203 voters.
