Three Supari Killers arrested for allegedly killing SBI Service Manager at Agyathuri in Kamrup

Guwahati: In a major breakthrough to the sensational murder incident of the Service Manager of the State Bank of India (SBI), Dadara Branch, Junu Sarmah in the middle of a busy road at Agyathuri, Kamrup Police on Friday arrested three wanted contract (supari) killers in connection with the incident from Hajo.

The trios have been identified as Arup Das (main culprit), Ajanta Kalita and Puja Das (accomplice).

Speaking to The Sentinel Digital, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Kamrup, Sanjay Saikia said, “Based on our investigation we have arrested three people in connection with the incident. We apprehended one on Thursday night and the other two killers on Friday morning.”

Police sources have also confirmed that the supari or contract killers were hired by a bank agent (mastermind) and a banker namely Saddam Hussain and Sunil Kumar Mishra. They are suspected to be involved in a multi-crore scam of the bank, said the police source.

Reportedly, Service Manager, Junu Sarmah was investigating the multi-crore scam of the bank. As per earlier reports, bank officials and money lending mafias were allegedly involved in the killing of Junu Sarmah.

Earlier, Assam Director General of Assam Police, Kuladhar Saikia also hinted that the killing of Junu was a pre-planned murder.

It may be mentioned that Junu Sarmah was shot dead by two motorbike-borne assailants at Agyathuri area in Kamrup district near Guwahati on October 9 evening.

Also, Police sources earlier claimed that a man on a motorbike, wearing a helmet and covering his face, broke the window pane of the car and shot at her neck from a close range, killing her on the spot.

Meanwhile, Kamrup Police had also recovered one 9mm pistol and a motorcycle from the possession of the accused supari killer Arup Das.
