Traffic in Mumbai termed the worst in the world, Delhi comes fourth

Guwahati: Mumbai has topped the list in the world, maybe not for good reasons but for a serious matter and that is traffic congestion. This is shocking and worth a thought that Mumbai has topped the list in the world as the worst traffic flow city. This seems that not only the people residing in Mumbai but the outsiders too have agreed to this fact that Mumbai traffic is the worst in the world and this is high time that a solution to this issue is being found.

However, Mumbai is not the only one in the list and another Indian city gives company in the race. The other Indian city is none other than the Indian capital Delhi which captures the fourth place. Notably, the list was being prepared considering the traffic situation in 56 countries.

This has been found in a report prepared by location technology specialist TomTom, which is also known for supplying maps for Apple and Uber.

The report states, "Mumbai takes the top spot this year with drivers in the Indian city expecting to spend an average of 65 percent extra travel time stuck in traffic. Next in the global rankings are Bogota (63 percent), Lima (58 percent), New Delhi (58 percent) and Moscow (56 percent), making up the top five most congested cities in the world."

Mumbai, also known as the financial capital of India records a journey time of 65 percent longer particularly when it is rush hour. In Delhi, the journey time takes 58 percent longer.

The average traffic congestion in Mumbai in 2018 was 65 percent, which is just one percent less than 66 percent in 2017. Similarly, Delhi recorded average traffic congestion of 58 percent in 2018 and this is a 4 percent decrease in comparison to 2017.
