Tripura: Attack on Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar 's Convoy,CPM alleges BJP's involvement

Agartala: Unknown miscreants attacked the convoy of former Tripura CM Manik Sarkar attacked at Rastarmatha in Sipahijala district, 25 km from Agartala. Sarkar was returning to Agartala along with some senior CPM leaders after attending a November Revolution meeting.

The CPM castigated the incident as a fascist and undemocratic one and alleged that the BJP hooligans were responsible for it.

Sarkar and CPM leaders – including former finance minister Bhanulal Saha, Sonamura MLA Shyamal Chakraborty, former minority welfare minister Sahid Choudhury, and Kamalasagar MLA Narayan Choudhury – were later rescued by the police and escorted back to Agartala

Responding to the incident, BJP leader Dr Ashok Sinha said that he had no knowledge about it. He condemned the attack on the former CM and called it “undesirable”

Tripura Congress vice-president Tapas De also condemned the attack and said such incidents bear hint to the fact that the BJP was not ready to allow any free space to the opposition.
