Two babies born in 108 Ambulance, Shillong

SHILLONG, Aug 1: On Tuesday at around 8.21 pm the doctor on duty from Khliehriat CHC called for 108 to refer a non-progressive labour case with BP problem hypo & hypertension. The patient identified as Laitmon Lyntgdoh (38), was placed in comfortable position by 108 Khliehriat based ambulance team to be transferred to Jowai Civil Hospital. During the process of transferring on reaching Mukhep the patient went into labour and the EMT Aklanson Majaw assisted in conducting safe and successful delivery in the ambulance and a baby girl was delivered. Both mother and baby were doing well and shifted back and admitted to Khliehriat CHC.

In a second case a call was received from Puriang today at around 8.41 am for a pregnancy case to be shifted to hospital. The Mawrynkneng based 108 ambulance was dispatched to transfer the patient to the hospital. While transferring the patient Aitibha Mukhim (22), en-route at Puriang Makajut Road the patient went into labour and the EMT Evanstar assisted in conducting safe and successful delivery in the ambulance and a healthy baby girl was delivered. Both the mother and the baby were doing well and shifted to Mawrynkneng PHC after providing pre-hospital care en-route.
