Shillong: The VIPs who are going to take the salute during the Independence Day celebrations in the state this year have been finalized by the Cabinet on Wednesday.
Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong informed that Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma would take the salute in Shillong on August 15 while Health and Family Welfare Minister Alexander L Hek will take the salute at Nongstoin.
Urban Affairs Minister, Hamlet Dohlin will take the salute in Nongpoh while Community and Rural Development Minister, Sniawbhlang Dhar will do the honours in Jowai.
Tynsong will take Rashtriya Salute and unfurl the national flag in Williamnagar, East Garo Hills . Home Minister James K Sangma will be in Ampati while PHE Minister Samlin Malngiang will take the salute in Resubelpara. Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh will visit Khliehriat while Tourism Minister Metbah Lyngdoh will take the salute at Mairang. Education Minister Lakhmen Rymbui will take the salute in Amlarem while SAD Minister Comingone Ymbon will unfurl the national flag in Sohra.
Deputy Assembly Speaker, Timothy D Shira will do the honours in Dadenggre while State Planning Board chairman Lambor Malngiang will take the salute in Pynursla.
Meanwhile, in Tura, Mawkyrwat and Ranikor officials will unfurl the National Flag in view of the by-elections in South Tura and Ranikor.
