Wildfire in Northern California Destroys Hundreds of Houses, Thousands of Residents Fled

Guwahati: A fast-moving wildfire in Northern California took an entire town under its grip as a result of which tens of thousands of people were compelled to run away from the site for the sake of saving their lives. The incident took place on Thursday and as per reports, the wildfire destroyed hundreds of structures in the town.

The incident took place in Paradise, about 290 km northeast of San Francisco which took under grip by the wildfire. Police and administration announced for an immediate evacuation of the community living in the town which is around 27,000 people. Although the exact data ion the casualties caused by the wildfire is not known yet, the chief of the fire department has stated that two firefighters and multiple residents were injured.

One of the scared witnesses of the disaster, who fled from the fire, described her terror tale in this way, “Things started exploding. People started getting out of their vehicles and running.”

The fire department head, while attending a press conference, said that the fire gutted around hundred houses, although the precise numbers of destroyed structure are not assessed yet.

The reason for the eruption of the wildfire is cited as the windy weather that created an extreme fire danger. The acting California Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency for the fire-stricken area in Northern California.
