Andhra Pradesh police rescues Meghalaya girl who alleged harassment by employer

GUWAHATI: Andhra Pradesh police have rescued a girl from Meghalaya after receiving a tip off from Meghalaya police and KSU New Delhi unit.

“The DGP of Meghalaya, R. Chandranathan had contacted the DGP of Andhra Pradesh to brief about this girl. Following this conversation, the Andhra Pradesh police followed up the case and the girl was rescued from the house of the owner of the parlour,” East Khasi Hills SP, Claudia Lyngwa told media.

The girl who was working at Anees Ladies Beauty Parlour, Hair Spa & Solutions has alleged harassment by employer of the parlour. The 21-year-old girl had to stay at the house of the owner as the lockdown was suddenly imposed.

“The victim had planned of returning home prior to the nation-wide lockdown. But due to the sudden national lockdown she could not return home. The victim had attempted to commit suicide because of the abuse and threats by owner of the parlour,” KSU New Delhi unit vice president said.

Just recently, Gaurav Vohra, a 40-year-old man, was arrested by Delhi police for attacking a woman from Manipur and calling her “corona” a few days ago.

Vohra, who works at a pressure cooker manufacturing unit, even spat at her.

The woman had filed harassment complaint with the police after which investigations began.

Police caught him after analyzing CCTV footage from the area. A white scooty was also seized from his possession.
