ITANAGAR: The Arunachal Pradesh Police of Special Investigation Team (SIT) has re-arrested and charge-sheeted accused Lukbi Bojir and his wife Miti Lego of physical and sexual assault on a minor girl.

Addressing the reporters, SP (SIT-Crime) Rohit Rajbir Singh said that a bail cancellation application was filed against the accused Lukbi Bojir. On the basis of two months of investigation and correct portrayal of collected evidence, the SIT was able to get the bail rejected by Gauhati High Court in July and then re-arrested him on September 17.

After finding prima-facie, the charge sheet of the instant case was filed in the Court of Special Judge (POCSO), Yupia against the alleged prime accused Lukbi Bojir of committing crime U/S 376/326/34 IPC R/W Sec 6 of POCSO Act, R/W Sec 75 JJ Act & R/W Sec 16 of Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act and against alleged accused Miti Lego for committing crime U/S 201 IPC R/W Sec 21 of POCSO Act," he said.

He added that a suspected Juvenile boy, which was supposed to be planted into the case by the main accused Lukbi Bojir by inducing him to admit before the police to have committed the crime, thereby misleading the investigation agency and the court in getting bail from the case has no involvement into the case.

The boy was re-examined during which he denied having committed the crime against the minor girl as alleged by the prime accused. Moreover, video footage of a juvenile boy was seized wherein he was seen denying of having committed the crime and alleging the accused Lukbi Bojir of forcing him to admit before the police to have committed, he added.

He furter stated that the most important and humane part of SIT work was to build a bond with the victim child, as she was psychologically scarred due to the assault. In this process, the SIT, through its bonafide outreach efforts, was able to provide a safe environment for the child.

"This entire process resulted in the child getting the confidence to come out in the open and give her statement free of fear," he added. He informed that the victim was under shock and trauma was given counselling by the psychiatrist at Midpu Mental Hospital, Doimukh. After recovery, her statement was recorded by the SIT and court wherein she disclosed that she was sexually abused by sleeping with her and touching her private parts leading to bleeding and unbearable pain by the accused Lukbi Bojir.

Further, she also revealed that she was also subjected to physical and mental torture inflicting grievous injury on her body and was engaged in physical labour also, in presence of the alleged accused wife Miti Lego in the house but she did not report the matter to the parent or any other authority.

Earlier, on May 26, Zero FIR was drawn at Women Police Station Itanagar on the strength of complaint lodge by Jumko Likam of Digalmukh village, Pakke Kessang District to the effect that Lukbi Bojir and his wife Miti Lego took his five years old daughter in the year 2018, with a promise to give her school education and would take care of her as his own daughter.

But after a gap of three years, Lukbi Bojir handed over the minor girl to her parents at Pasighat and fled away from the spot. The father found that his daughter sustained multiple injuries on her person. On queries, his daughter stated that she was subjected to sexual and physical assault by the accused. The case was forwarded to the Seijosa Police Station as the PO was false under their jurisdiction. The Seijosa Police had arrested both the accused Lukbi Bojir and his wife Miti Lego, however; they were released on bail from the Court of District & Session Judge, Bomdila and CJM Seppa respectively.
