ITANAGAR: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has condemned the joint coordination-cum-consultative meeting of the Adi Mising Baane Kebang held at Ruksin in connection with the alleged Namsai arson case.

The AAPSU said the meeting was uncalled for and could worsen the situation. It stated that the issue is between the communities within Arunachal Pradesh and no outsider should interfere in the matter. All matters within the State should be solved amicably without giving more communal colour by inviting communities from outside the State, the AAPSU stated..

The AAPSU also said that the people of Arunachal Pradesh do not expect the Mising people in the State to interfere in the affairs of the State. The union also stated that the Misings have been encroaching and constructing shelters in Changlang district near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh boundary. The State Government should issue eviction order and send them out immediately, the students’ body opined.

The AAPSU said members of its Peace-Making Committee had been sent to the troubled area while the State Government has been working to create a peaceful atmosphere.

The union further said it has come to know about many individuals having obtained scheduled tribe certificates in the name of indigenous people (Khampti and Adis). “We will constitute a fact-finding committee in this regard and appeal to the State Government to formulate a policy in this regard,” AAPSU president Hawa Bagang said while appealing for peace in the area.
