Air Marshal RD Mathur visits Advance Landing Ground (ALG) at Ziro

GUWAHATI: Air Officer in Command (AOC-in-C), Eastern Air Command, Indian Air Force, Air Marshal RD Mathur visited the advance landing ground (ALG) at Ziro and Limking Helipad on Wednesday. Famous for its pine clad hills, Ziro is the oldest town in lower Subansiri district. The ALG was inaugurated on March 12, 2016. The IAF uses the ALG for air maintenance to support the Arunachal Pradesh Department of State Transport, the Army, the Indo Tibetan Border Police and the Border Roads Organization.

Air maintenance is carried out using fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft. The Air Marshal was briefed about various tasks like casualty evacuation, troop deployment, troop transportation, and provision of supply to forward posts being undertaken by the IAF from ALG Ziro. He was also briefed on various infrastructure works being undertaken. He interacted with the IAF and ITBP personnel and also visited the Limking Helipad being maintained by the Army where he interacted with the personnel of the force.
