APLS felicitates Minoti Riba on its 14th foundation day

ITANAGAR: The 14th foundation day of the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) was held in the conference hall of JN State Museum on Friday.

The APLS felicitated Minoti Riba as a part of its foundation day celebration for her outstanding and tireless contribution in the field of art, culture, literature and social service over the last five decades.

She was very instrumental in popularizing drama, music and writings in the early days of Arunachal Pradesh. A team of APLS executive members leaded by its president YD Thongchi felicitated her at her residence as she is unwell to attend the foundation day celebration.

Attending the event as the chief guest, chairperson of All Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Association (AAPWWA) Gumri Ringu lauded the yeoman role of APLS in creating a literary environment in the State.

She added, “APLS under the leadership of writer YD Thongchi has provided a platform to budding writers and literary aspirants. The mission should be continued.”

In his presidential address YD Thongchi briefed the year-long activities of APLS. He mentioned about organizing the poem recitation programme “Gramlok Sabha” jointly with Sahitya Akademi in different villages of the State.

He recapitulated his experience in Silik Village of Pasighat and the overwhelming response of the participants. Thongchi announced to constitute a literary award “Arun Literary Award” for creative writing related to Arunachal Pradesh every year in its foundation day by APLS, besides the Lummer Dai Luminous Award.

Meanwhile, three books written by Ramendra Nath Koley Ekante, Jalchabi and Bnaphul were released on the day.
