ITANAGAR: The All Arunachal Pradesh Workers’ Union (AAPWU), affiliated with the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), has welcomed the state government’s decision to implement key demands from its memorandum, including wage hikes and retirement benefits for workers. The government has approved an increase in the monthly wages of skilled and unskilled workers. Skilled workers with up to five years of experience will now receive Rs 19,000, while those with over 25 years will be placed in a new wage bracket of Rs 31,000. For unskilled workers, wages have been revised to Rs 18,000 for those with up to five years of experience and Rs 30,000 for those with more than 25 years of service. Additionally, the retirement age for ALC workers has been extended from 45 to 60 years. A retirement compensation benefit of Rs three lakh will also be granted to all casual and contingency employees through the Arunachal Karmayogi Samman Nidhi upon reaching the age of 60. Another key change includes transferring the coordination dual charge from the chief engineer (coordination) back to the superintending engineer (coordination). The AAPWU has expressed its appreciation for these measures and acknowledged the government’s role in addressing workers’ concerns.
