Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh Assembly on Friday passed two significant government bills through voice votes, aiming to address land eviction and floodplain zoning in the state.

The house approved the Arunachal Pradesh Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Bill, introduced on Thursday by Land Management Minister Balo Raja.

The bill seeks to amend the existing Arunachal Pradesh Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act, 2003, strengthening provisions to remove unauthorised occupants from public properties.

Additionally, the Assembly passed the Arunachal Pradesh Flood Plain Zoning Bill, 2025, presented by Water Resources Minister Biyuram Wahge. The legislation aims to regulate the floodplain zoning of rivers and address concerns related to flooding and land use in vulnerable areas.

The assembly also adopted a government resolution for amending the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Act, 2024, as enacted by Parliament.

This amendment, required under Article 252(1) of the Constitution, was moved by state Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Wangki Lowang.

The passage of these bills marks a significant step in addressing land encroachment, flood management, and environmental protection in Arunachal Pradesh.
