Itanagar: In a key step towards implementing the Vibrant Villages Programme-II (VVP-II) in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, a coordination meeting was held on Wednesday, chaired by deputy commissioner Techu Aran. All heads of line departments were directed to submit a comprehensive gap analysis for the 11 identified villages within one week, ensuring swift and effective execution of the programme.

The meeting was attended by Khonsa West MLA Chakat Aboh, along with senior officials from various departments.

VVP-II focuses on developing villages along the Indo-Myanmar and Indo-Bhutan borders, expanding beyond the Indo-China border villages covered under VVP-I.  The MLA in her address advocated for the inclusion of Moktowa village under Dadam Block and other neglected villages under the Lazu border block within the VVP-II framework.

District planning officer L R Roy briefed on the programme’s objectives, highlighting its goal of fostering inclusive development in border areas.

During departmental updates, the executive engineer (Power) outlined ongoing and proposed electrification works in schools and hospitals. However, the deputy director of school education flagged the persistent issue of power shortages in many schools across the district. Extra assistant commissioner of Lazu proposed introducing cluster farming through the formation of farmers’ producer organisations (FPOs) to improve agricultural output and market access.
