ITANAGAR: The Seventh Arunachal Film Festival-cum-Second State Film Awards-2020 ceremony witnessed the presence of the entire Arunachal film artistes at Amphitheatre, DorjeeKhandu Convention Hall, here on January 9.

The 2020 release of movie 'Capital' won the maximum number of titles viz., the Best Film, Best Editor (NabamKatung), Best Cinematography (NabamKatung), Best Male Actor in a Lead Role (TumkenSora), Best Actor in a Negative Role (Pei NiluGumtu), Best Actor in a Comic Role (BasonieWesi), Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role (Ligang Sulu), and Best Male Playback Singer (Balo Demo).

Based on the Bugun tribal community of West Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh, the movie 'Land of BugunLiocichla' took away three titles that included those of the Best Director (D.K. Thungon), Best Female Actor in a Lead Role (SheelaDemaMarphew), and Best Music (S.D. Wangja).

While 'Hula Numpa' received the two titles of the 'Best Female Actor in a Supporting Role (MilloMamung) and the 'Best Female Playback Singer' (Habung Mona); the title of 'Best Documentary' was won by 'Rangwan', the title of 'Best Short Film' was bagged by 'Stranded', the title of 'Best Short Film Theme' was won by 'All The Best'.

Attended by the renowned artists of yesteryears such as Hage D. Appa and DesomBeyong of 'Frontier Students' — a cinematic masterpiece of late Taro Chatung and experts from Bollywood and others namely prominent director Amar Kaushik, sound expert Girja Shankar Vohra, lights expert NyagoEte, and make-up expert ShipraAcharya among others.

The award night was a creative magnificence.

Expressing happiness over the success of this festival, organizing chairman of the event HaliWelly said, "I am really satisfied with each and every member associated with the event as it was a success even during this pandemic time."

"We believe that the door for the due recognition to the artists of the State has been opened by us by holding such an event," Welly further shared, It's a good news the winner of Best Director-2020, D.K. Thungon's selection will feature in the in 23rd UK Asian Film Federation as freeway film entry.

He further emphasized that if the 'Arunachal Film Policy-2020' announced by Chief Minister PemaKhandu is properly implemented, it would be beneficial for the uplift of the State's filmmakers and artists.

The event's organizing secretary, ShamboFlago stated that the whole programme was made online due to the severity of the pandemic in earlier times. The Second State Film Award ceremony was made offline as the pandemic situation was better and also to initiate an interactive session with all the members of the State film fraternity.

He opined that Film Federation of Arunachal is a platform to unite and give reorganization to the artists of the State. He also thanked the State government and the Department of Information & Public Relations for helping the event to be a success.

Meanwhile, festival director LobsangChombey said that the Seventh Arunachal Film Festival was a learning opportunity provided by the festival team to the young filmmakers and artists. The films and documentaries that were shown online on the AFF social networking sites have received an excellent response internationally and were included so that youngsters could learn, he added.

The two day Arunachal Film Festival was scheduled for December 27 to 28 last, but was extended till 30 December 2020 later. From showing films and documentaries online, the festival was also curated with the master classes on sound, lights, makeup, and panel discussion on the business of making movies.
