ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr BD Mishra on Tuesday commended the state government for recommending CBI probe into the alleged leakage of question paper of Assistant Engineer (Civil), conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission recently.

The Governor, during a meeting with Chief Minister Pema Khandu at Raj Bhavan here, while expressing grave concern on the issue, emphasized streamlining the APPSC to reclaim the prestige and trust amongst the people, particularly the youth. Khandu on Monday announced his government's decision to hand over the case to the CBI. The question paper of the exam for the Assistant Engineer (Civil), conducted on August 26 and August 27 by the APPSC, was leaked. Police have so far arrested five people in the case, including the deputy secretary-cum-deputy controller of examination, Taket Jerang.

The Governor also appreciated the Chief Minister for his proposal to get the Greenfield airport at Hollongi dedicated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who laid the foundation for the airport on February 8, 2019. Mishra and Khandu also discussed issues of the state to be taken up in the ensuing North Eastern Council meeting on October 9 in Guwahati. The Governor insisted on strengthening the road communication network, particularly the orphan roads which would be beneficial for the people of both sides of the interstate boundary.

Khandu during the meeting, briefed the Governor about his meeting with Prime Minister and other ongoing developmental projects in different parts of the state.
