Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik on Wednesday conferred the Bharat Scouts and Guides Rajya Puraskar on Scouts and Guides in the 22nd Rajya Puraskar award ceremony at Raj Bhavan.
As many as 69 Scouts and 92 Guides received the state award.
Congratulating the awardees, Parnaik, who is the chief patron of the Bharat Scouts and Guides State Association, said that the award reflects their dedication, hard work, discipline, and commitment to serving the society, an official statement from Raj Bhavan said here.
He said the award is not just recognition but a responsibility to continue serving with greater zeal and exhorted the Scouts and Guides to uphold the values of discipline, service, and patriotism and work for a stronger, united, and developed India.
Terming Scouts and Guides as a beacon of discipline, unity, and selfless service as it instills in every member the values of honesty, responsibility, and compassion, Parnaik said the Bharat Scouts and Guides State Association reflects the true process of how the young minds can be nurtured to become responsible citizens and good leaders.
He advised the school students to join the Scouts and Guides movement, saying it is a wonderful platform to develop leadership skills, discipline, and a sense of responsibility.
Stating that the nation stands on the shoulders of its youth, the governor, as Scouts and Guides, you embody the spirit of 'nation first.'
This spirit, he said, must guide you in every endeavour, inspiring you to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Parnaik said the call for Viksit Bharat is not just a slogan but a mission that requires innovation, inclusivity, and relentless effort, he added. SOC Guides Chanyan Lowang presented a brief report on Scouting and Guiding in Arunachal Pradesh.
Started in Pasighat in 1948 with 24 boys, today it has 877 Scouts and Guides units in 439 schools with 13,183 members. On the occasion, Scouts and Guides presented a first-aid demonstration while students of Hornbill English Medium School, Itanagar, presented a dance on the theme, 'Save Water.'
