ITANAGAR: In a dramatic medical emergency, a healthy baby boy was delivered inside a 108 ambulance in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, after the mother went into labour en route to hospital.
The delivery was carried out near Bogapani on early Monday by Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) Phetat Wangsa and Liamhun Tongrang of EMRI Green Health Services, who acted swiftly when the patient developed severe labour pain.
The newborn, weighing 3.4 kg, was delivered inside the ambulance from Borduria primary health center.
Following the safe delivery, both mother and child were taken to Mayflower Hospital in Margherita, Assam, where doctors confirmed they were stable and healthy. The family and hospital staff praised the EMTs for their skill, composure, and compassionate care under pressure.
EMRI Green Health Services, which provides the state’s free 108 emergency ambulance service, has been operating since June 21, 2021, when it was launched by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
Since then, it has served over 26,000 beneficiaries across Arunachal Pradesh, with EMTs and pilots working round the clock to respond to emergencies.
