Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh unit of Himalaya Suraksha Manch, has extended strong support to the 14th Dalai Lama’s recent declaration affirming that the institution of the Dalai Lama will continue and that only the Gaden Phodrang Trust, established by the Tibetan spiritual leader, holds exclusive authority to determine his future reincarnation.

State unit president of the Manch Tarh Tarak and secretary general Nima Sangey Saling, in a statement said that the organisation lauded the Dalai Lama’s firm stance as a critical reaffirmation of spiritual autonomy and cultural preservation.

“No external power or government has the right to interfere in this sacred process,” the Manch said, calling the Dalai Lama’s message ‘bold and timely’.

Condemning attempts by foreign powers to politicise spiritual traditions, the Manch sharply criticised a recent statement by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, who insisted the Dalai Lama’s reincarnation must follow the Qing dynasty-era ‘golden urn’ system and receive Chinese government approval.

Calling the claim ‘baseless and politically motivated’, the Manch asserted that reincarnation is a spiritual matter governed solely by Tibetan Buddhist institutions under Dalai Lama’s leadership, and denounced Beijing’s efforts as an assault on religious freedom.

The Manch said such interference violates international norms and deeply offends millions of Tibetan Buddhists across the Himalayan region, including Arunachal Pradesh, Ladakh, and Sikkim.

Reaffirming its solidarity with the Tibetan people and the Gaden Phodrang Trust, the organisation praised the Dalai Lama for his ‘unwavering leadership, boundless compassion, and moral clarity.’ It also urged the global community, particularly democratic nations and peace-loving individuals, to stand with Tibet and reject religious interference by authoritarian regimes. “Tibet belongs to the Tibetan people. The future of the Dalai Lama belongs solely to the Tibetan spiritual community,” the statement concluded.
