Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Food & Civil Supplies minister Gabriel D Wangsu chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Food & Civil Supplies department, focusing on statewide operations, data analytics, and key challenges faced in service delivery. Senior officials from all districts participated in the day-long session held on Wednesday, which began with a technical discussion on the implementation of the SMART Public Distribution System (PDS).
The session featured presentations from consultants and District Food & Civil Supplies Officers (DFCSOs), with particular focus on challenges in implementing eKYC and rolling out SMART PDS, according to an official statement issued Thursday.
Each district presented detailed PowerPoint reports, outlining region-specific achievements and operational hurdles. Minister Wangsu engaged directly with the officers, listening to their field-level concerns and emphasizing the need for proactive and creative problem-solving.
Urging the team to ‘think out of the box’, Wangsu addressed critical issues such as staff shortages, pending Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings, career progression pathways, and the need for proper documentation of vehicle procurement.
He also highlighted the role of social media in enhancing departmental communication and called for the use of technical tools to improve overall efficiency.
Assuring continued dialogue, the minister said more such interactive sessions would be organized to facilitate collaboration and field-level improvements.
