WEST KAMENG: Sela Tunnel, the highest bi-lane tunnel in India, at 13000 ft, was inaugurated by the Prime Minister on 9th March 2023. The tunnel was physically visited by Minister Kiran Rijiju, who conveyed his compliments to the entire team for an extraordinary achievement.

In the past year, the tunnel has provided unhindered movement of tourists, locals, and army convoys. The tunnel has reduced time and distance and, in turn, reduced the cost of transportation in forward areas and Tawang. It has bolstered the socio-economic status of the entire area. The increase in the flux of tourists and the rapid increase in infrastructure, including hotels in the Tawang region, is a testimony to this.

In the past one year, the tunnel has received many awards, including a mention in the World Book of Records, the ASSOCHAM award, the Build Infra Award, and a gold medal awarded to Project Vartak by the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.
