ITANAGAR: Pipsorang, an administrative unit in the Tali constituency of Kra Daadi district, has achieved road connectivity after 78 years of independence.

In a historic milestone, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, accompanied by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Rajya Sabha MP Nabam Rebia, and the state's Urban Development Minister Balo Raja, traveled by road to the Pipsorang SDO headquarters from Tali. Tali was the last constituency in the state to remain unconnected until 2022.

On February 27, 2022, Chief Minister Pema Khandu inaugurated the road to Tali by traveling all the way from Itanagar by road. During his visit, he achieved two significant milestones: becoming the first chief minister to reach Tali by road and the first to participate in Nyokum celebrations at Tali.

He had announced, "The next goal is to establish road connectivity between Tali and Pipsorang within the next couple of years." Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated local legislator Jikke Tako, the Rural Works Department, the local administration, the contractor, and the people of Tali administrative center on this significant milestone. He urged them to ensure the completion of the entire project within a month.

He noted that the newly constructed road required gradient adjustments and alignment modifications in several areas to reduce steep climbs and sharp turns. He directed K.C. Dhimole, the technical advisor to the state government, to assess, re-align, and re-design the road and complete the process within a month. Khandu instructed the concerned executive engineer to regularly monitor the progress and conduct frequent site visits.

"The Assistant Engineer in charge of the project should visit the sites and stay overnight to oversee the work, and the Junior Engineers should stay on the ground, sleep in the camps, and coordinate with the contractor until the project is completed," he said. Khandu noted that although the road is still 'kutcha,' it has significantly improved connectivity for the people of Pipsorang and nearby villages.

"I assume 30% of the work still remains for its completion, and I assure the people that it will be done within a month," he said. The 55-km Tali to Pipsorang road is being constructed by the Rural Works Department (RWD) under the PMGSY scheme. The Chief Minister reiterated that road connectivity is the government's top priority and assured the approval and sanction of roads to the villages in the area that are yet to be connected, as requested by the local MLA.

These include the Tali-Pipsorang road to Haa village, Nyobia to Keba, Ripum to Raha village, and the upgradation of the road from Roing to Lodo Kore village. Recalling his last trip to Tali in 2022, Khandu said, “The stretch from the Joram-Koloriang Trans-Arunachal Highway to Yangte was in very poor shape.” He informed that funds were sanctioned for the upgradation of that stretch soon after.

"I am happy to note that work on that stretch has begun on the ground. Next time, I will travel by road from Itanagar to Yangte-Tali and all the way to Pipsorang," he said. Informing that around 1300 villages across the state are still without road connectivity, Khandu assured that every effort will be made to connect all these villages in the next few years.
