Arunachal Police sign MoU with SBI

ITANAGAR: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Arunachal Pradesh police (APP) and State Bank of India (SBI) to open or convert existing bank accounts for the permanent employees of Arunachal Pradesh Police Salary Package (PSP) accounts in any of the branches in the state at Police Headquarter here on Tuesday.

The MoU signing was represented by Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) MadhurVerma on behalf of APP and Kamlesh Kumar Singh from the SBI administrative office, Dibrugarh.

Superintendent of Police (SIT) HemantTiwari informed that the accounts will be divided in four categories of silver, gold, diamond and platinum depending upon net monthly salary of police personnel.

He said that various additional benefits like no minimum balance charges, no annual maintenance charges on ATM cum Debit cards, no charges for ATM transactions through SBI or other bank ATMs' and to waive off the charges related to demand draft will be provided by the SBI to PSB account holders.

Under the new MoU signing, the bank will also provide complementary personal accident insurance (if dead) from Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 20 lakhs across various categories.

"This will be available for all active salary accounts even with zero balance and without any ATM or POS transactions," he said, adding that the deaths of any police personnel during terrorist attacks are also covered under it.

Likewise additional personal accidents (if dead) will cover on ATM Cards (subject to exact terms & conditions of bank) of Rs 2 lakhs for Gold & Diamond debit cards and Rs 5 lakhs on Platinum debit cards.

"Various additional accounts like National Pension Scheme (NPS), Public Provident Fund (PPF), SukanyaSamriddhi Scheme (SSS) and SBI mutual fund account and SBI Credit card will also be provided under it," he added.

He said that the MoU will fulfill the banking needs and a hassle free banking and will benefit more than 15000 state police personnel families.
