Arunachal Pradesh braces to tackle COVID-19 pandemic’s third phase

Itanagar: With COVID-19 entering the third stage in the country, the authorities in Arunachal Pradesh has put all necessary arrangements in place to check the pandemic.

The State government has designated the lone medical college hospital of the State – Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Science (TRIHMS) – as the COVID-19 Hospital to deal with all cases related to the Coronavirus.

Health Secretary P Parthiban informed that a four-bedded ICU with a ventilator is in operation at TRIHMS and Bakin Pertin General Hospital at Pasighat in East Siang district also to be equipped with an ICU.

“A consignment of 10,000 N95 masks and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are being awaited from the government of India which will arrive soon,” the secretary added.

Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom informed that two places have been identified for quarantine facility in the capital region including Ashoka Hotel here and headquarter of Bharat Scouts and Guides at Naharlagun.

The State Health department has set up quarantine facilities in six districts and isolation wards have been identified in TRIHMS, Pasighat General Hospital and all district and General Hospitals in the State.

The state government had recently stopped issuing temporary and provisional Inner Line Permit (ILP) as part of its measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

ILP is a mandatory official document issued by the government allowing inward travel of domestic visitors.

The government had also stopped issuing Protected Area Permit to check entry of foreign tourists.

To help the people during the lockdown period, the Capital complex administration has arranged for home delivery of essential commodities besides ambulance services from Friday.

“We are arranging home delivery services of essential commodities, ambulance services, at your door steps with the help of online multi-service store and grocery delivery app, from Hollongi to Banderdewa,” Capital SP Tumme Amo said.
