Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor on Monday urged the executing agency and contractors of the NEC-funded District Hospital at Likabali in Lower Siang district, to complete the work by March, next year.
Nigyor, who took stock of major ongoing projects in Likabali township during the day, expressed satisfaction over the progress of work on the hospital, being constructed with an estimated cost of over 14.09 crore. The District Hospital was elevated to its current status in the year 2019 and its upgradation will accommodate various sections of modern facilities like better institutional delivery and with facilities like operation theatre, casualty section, day care, blood bank, eye section, baby care unit and post operational care, engaging professional architects in consultation with the state health department.
State public works department which is the executing agency, assured to maintain quality work. Almost 90 per cent of work on the hospital has been completed so far, an official communiqué informed here. The deputy speaker, while inspecting the construction of a storm water drain at Likabali, urged the construction agency to maintain the standard carriage width of 7 meters while constructing the drain.
He insisted upon the construction of the drain to be in alignment with the standard carriage width of internal roads so that there is no obstruction of traffic load and management in future. Nyigyor urged the residents of Likabali town to co-operate with the executing agency to achieve a quality storm water drain to address the water logging problem of the township.
The state government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 12 crore for construction of storm water drain at Likabali under revised estimate last year, out of which, Rs 2 crore has been incurred so far.
The scheme is a major assistance from the state government to address the problems of flooding and inundation of roads within the town every monsoon. The project commenced in September 2023 and is scheduled for completion by September next year. The deputy speaker also further inspected the ongoing construction of 50 bedded AYUSH Hospital at Likabali under National AYUSH Mission.
