Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Bamang Felix cautions people against disrespecting national flag

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Bamang Felix Tuesday urged the gram panchayat leaders, booth-level committee members and villagers of his home constituency Nyapin, to put up national flag at their respective houses from August 13 to August 15 to mark the 75 years of the India's independence.

Felix, however, cautioned all against disrespecting the national flag in any manner before and post the Independence Day celebrations and informed that showing disrespect to the national flag is a legally punishable offence.

He directed the gram panchayat leaders to ensure that national flag being raised by them and villagers at their homes is done in a proper and respectful manner. He also suggested that those who find themselves unable to properly keep the national flag should submit the same to their respective gram panchayat leaders.

"It is not just a flag, it is a symbol of our pride for our nation and represents our collective identity as Indian. So, disrespecting the national flag is disrespecting the nation and its people," he said.

The minister was speaking during the national flag selling and distribution event, held at the Nyobia circle office, under 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign. The event was participated by Kurung Kumey DC Bengia Nighee, departmental heads and panchayat leaders among others.

Felix, while addressing another event, said, "When it comes to providing benefits to the masses through various Prime Minister and Chief Minister flagship programmes, gram panchayat and Booth Level Committee (BLC) members should rise above party lines and ensure that the benefit reaches all."

Felix, who also holds the Panchayati Raj portfolio, was addressing a Booth Sashaktikaran Abhiyan event at at Hiba-I village under Nyobia circle of Kurung Kumey district. Interacting with the gram panchayat members, BLC members and villagers, he informed them of various PM and CM flagship programmes such as Jan Dhan Scheme, Jal Jeevan Mission, Phosan Abhiyan, CM's Atma Nirbhar Krishi and Bagwani Yojana, CM's Arunachal Aarogya Yojana, Dulari Kanya Scheme, Pension Schemes, etc.

Expressing concern over many eligible beneficiaries ignorant of the benefits provided under various PM and CM flagship programmes, Felix directed the panchayat leaders to intensify their efforts towards making people aware of the same.

"You should not only make people aware of various PM and CM flagship programmes but should also ensure that all eligible beneficiaries get registered and benefitted," he said while assuring all possible assistance from the state government.
