ITANAGAR: At least 360 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the total caseload in the northeastern state to 23,159, a senior health department official said here on Friday. The death toll in the state remained at 89 as no fresh fatality was reported in the past 24 hours, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

The Capital Complex region recorded the maximum number of fresh cases at 89, followed by Changlang (60), Tawang (40), Lower Subansiri (31), Lower Dibang Valley (19), Lohit and Upper Subansiri at 17 each, West Kameng (16) and ten each in East Siang, Papumpare and East Kameng district respectively, the official said.

Nine fresh cases were also reported from Namsai, seven each from West Siang, Kamle and Upper Siang, three from Tirap, two each from Dibang Valley, Shi-Yomi and Pakke Kessang and one each from Lower Siang and Anjaw district, he said.

Of the fresh cases, 309 were detected through rapid antigen tests, 27 through RT-PCR and 24 through TrueNat method, Jampa said adding, 177 people have symptoms.

Arunachal Pradesh now has 2,731 active cases. As many as 214 people were cured of the disease on Thursday, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 20,339.

The recovery rate among coronavirus patients stands at 87.82 per cent while the active percentage stands at 11.79 and the positivity rate at 7.82 per cent, the official said.

The Capital Complex Region - comprising Itanagar, Naharlagun, Nirjuli and Banderdewa areas - has the highest number of active cases at 625, followed by Changlang (244), Lower Subansiri (234), Tawang (212), Lohit (207), Namsai (179), Lower Dibang Valley (171), West Kameng (130), Upper Subansiri (115) and East Siang at 102.

Altogether, 5,20,974 samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the state so far, including 4,602 on Thursday, Jampa said.

State Immunisation Officer Dr Dimong Padung said that 3,24,101 people have been inoculated so far in the state since the vaccination drive began in January.
